Even One Death is Too Many
Who is at risk for sudden cardiac death?
Hypertrophic Cardiomypathy (HCM) is the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young people. HCM is caused by a genetic abnormality in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick, making it harder to pump blood throughout the body. People have few, if even any symptoms of this disease.
How can sudden death from HCM be prevented?
Through screening programs, more children and families at risk can be identified early! The adolescent Lifescan Screen is a simple, painless and noninvasive screening program. The purpose is to identify as many high-risk abnormalities as possible. Adolescent LifeScan screening from Cardiac Scan Imaging Services evaluates the risk of HCM to help identify those at risk. HCM cannot be cured but once identified, it can be managed under the care of a physician.
What does adolescent LifeScan include?
The adolescent LifeScan is a simple, painless and noninvasive Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG), Echocardiogram (ECHO) and Body Mass Index (BMI) screening program to identify high-risk abnormalities which typically takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. The procedures are performed by highly trained cardiovascular technologists and results are reviewed by a Board Certified Cardiologist. The screening is complete, confidential and customized. The Adolescent Lifescan Screening costs $265 per screening.
Why use CardiacScan Imaging?
Cardiacscan Imaging has partnered with Hackensack University Medical Center and Winthrop University Hospital both “HCM Centers of Excellence, “along with The Gregory M. Hirsch Memorial Foundation, The Sean Fisher Memorial Foundation, and The Gift of Life America to bring awareness through education and screening.
